Address of Representative Director AT COMMERCIAL REGISTRATION
Before, at least one of the Representative Director of Japanese Corporation has been required to have an address in Japan.
It was not according to the Companies Act but the Notification (September 26, 1984, Min IV No. 4974, Civil Bureau, Fourth Section Manager’s reply/ March 11, 1985, Min IV No. 1480, Civil Bureau, Fourth Section Manager’s reply)(昭和５９年９月２６日民四第４９７４号民事局第四課長回答、昭和６０年３月１１日民四第１４８０号民事局第四課長回答）.
From March 16, 2015, this handing has been abolished, no need that all representative directors do not have their address in Japan.
Even now, there is some misunderstanding that in cases where foreign people would like to establish new company in Japan, one of representative directors has to have an address in Japan. Its requirement no needed anymore.
Foreign people can run and manage the company in Japan while living overseas.
